District 5 Information Phone

The cell phone is answered by volunteers that are scheduled on a monthly basis. If you would like more information about District 5 and Meetings, you can call this number or email our Al-Anon Information Service (AIS). For information about volunteering to answer calls to the Information Phone (and direct newcomers to their first meeting), please contact our Information Phone Coordinator to find out what qualifications are necessary.

Order Literature

You may explore Al-Anon’s Conference Approved Literature (CAL) at the World Service Office (WSO) website. Ordering CAL from your District 5 Literature Distribution Center (LDC) helps support district functions.

Group Records Change

If you have any information about permanent or temporary changes to a group, including

  • name
  • location
  • day or time
  • type (open or closed)
  • services (beginners, child care, etc.)
  • Group Representative (GR)
  • Current Mailing Address (CMA)
  • phone contacts
  • welcome and description on website,

please email the details of those changes to GroupChanges@afgdistrict5.org, which will be received by all the relevant service positions. District 5 encourages groups inside the district to use the District 5 Information Phone, 734-995-4949, for their second phone contact. The District Group Records Coordinator will submit the required form (GR-1) to the Area Group Records Coordinator and the WSO, as appropriate.

Please be aware that a welcome message and detailed description about your meeting appears on the meeting calendar. Please update or craft these statements, which provide your group an opportunity to welcome and inform newcomers about your meeting and let regulars know when you hold your group conscience meetings.

Our Seventh Tradition states that Al-Anon is a self-supporting program. Just as individual groups are sustained by voluntary member contributions, Al-Anon service is sustained on the District, Area (state) and World Service level by voluntary contributions from Al-Anon/Alateen groups. Groups who are able are encouraged to contribute to supporting Al-Anon service work on the district, area and World Service levels. Please include the number of your Al-Anon group on your check. Address District 5 group contributions to the following addresses.
