Seeking Sponsor for New Alateen Meeting

There is a request for a new Alateen meeting at the Ozone House in Ypsilanti. Ozone House is an agency that provides shelter and support services to youth who are in unsafe living situations. They are looking for someone to facilitate an Alateen meeting on Monday nights at their Ypsilanti location. To be an Alateen sponsor you must have 2 years in Al-Anon and pass a background check. There is also training for new sponsors. The District Alateen Coordinator can give guidance as well. March 09, 2019 – Area World Service Committee (AWSC) Meeting

Hi All!,

SAVE THE DATE!  Just a reminder that the Area World Service Committee (AWSC) Meeting is March 9th. This is the Area Level Group Conscience that determines the agenda for Assembly.  All are welcome to participate, so feel free to announce this meeting at your group meetings..

Our meeting starts at 10:00 am (New District Rep Orientation is at 9:40 am)

All Board Members and Area Coordinators are requested to submit a report of what they have been working on since the last meeting, at least a week prior to allow groups to review the information prior to our meeting.  (Delegate, Alt Delegate, Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Literature, Web, Tech, Newsletter, Group Records, Forum, Alateen and Public Outreach).

Please check the Google Drive for currently submitted reports.  The reports are added to the drive as they are received (even after the meeting is held).

Don’t forget to bring a dish to pass and get ready for a great day! I can’t wait to see everyone!

DID YOU KNOW?  The location of the Al-Anon State Convention is chosen 2 years prior to the event at the Area World Service Committee (AWSC) in August.  Between Spring Assembly and the AWSC in August the Alternate Delegate combs through many Michigan hotel convention centers and picks 3 that are then shown at the August AWSC.  Your District Rep votes with the rest of the Michigan District Reps to choose the location. So this year, in August, your District Rep will vote on where the 2021 convention will be held.  Don’t have a District Rep? Get together with the other groups in your district and pick someone who will represent and have them come to AWSC (yes, it’s that easy). New District Rep orientation is always held at 9:40, just before the meeting starts and the new rep gets a welcome packet to take back to help them get started.
