Our Seventh Tradition states that Al-Anon is a self-supporting program. We are supported not only by member contributions, but also by member service! And, member service helps the individual who serves as well as the Al-Anon members and program. There are service opportunities at all levels of Al-Anon/Alateen. Here are a few!
District Level (District 5) Service Opportunities:
Current terms of service end in December, 2017. Rotation of these service positions are voted for prior to year-end. Voting took place at the District Meeting on November 15, 2014 at King of Kings at 11:00 a.m. To learn the specifics of various roles, beyond the Group Level, click here to familiarize yourself with the Structure of the Al-Anon/Alateen Fellowship. The page this link directs you to contains a wealth of information. Service work opens the door to personal growth!
ALATEEN SPONSORS AND ALATEEN SERVICE SUPPORT NEEDED: Our area Alateen program needs adult Al-Anon member(s) to sponsor Alateen groups and support Alateen activities. Alateen sponsorship is extremely rewarding for the Alateen sponsor and extremely helpful for the Alateen members. Have YOU ever thought of becoming involved with Alateen service? The Al-Anon publication, “Alateen Sponsorship--Is It For You? ” (S-27) provides an overview of the requirements to be an Alateen sponsor. For information on how you can sponsor an Alateen group or help support Alateen activities, please click here!

“Living with Sobriety” In this booklet, Al-Anon members share how they met the new challenges that sobriety presented to family members and friends, as well as the alcoholic.
“The Dilemma of the Alcoholic Marriage” Al-Anon members share openly and honestly about how Al-Anon has helped them face various problems in their marriages.
“The Al-Anon Family Groups-Classic Edition” Celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Al-Anon’s first book includes the original text written by our pioneer members, as well as an introduction, footnotes, and appendix that put it in historical perspective. While the world has changed in the last 55 years, the hope our program offers has not.
“As we Understood” is celebrating a 25th Anniversary which was written in 1982. This Al-Anon and Alateen book made its debut at the First Al-Anon International Convention in Montreal, Quebec. This was the first Conference approved book to include spiritual sharings from members.
Will the Forum grow - or fade away? Readers are needed and Sharings are wanted. The Forum has an important role to play in Al-Anon. It is called “A Meeting in My Pocket.” The Forum is affordable at $11 per year. Each registered Al-Anon group is now receiving a free copy of The Forum. It has been suggested that if each group bought one or two copies of the magazine it would once again become a focal point for Al-Anon unity and a bridge to the future. The Forum will fade away unless we, as a fellowship, decide that it is worth our support. Please click here to print a subscription form.
